Outcome:

Informed on the necessity of grouting worked seams

THE PROJECT

The desk based coal mining risk assessment identified the potential for shallow coal mining at the site. D&I Drilling were asked to drill rotary boreholes, to ascertain the presence of voids or loss in flush, which would indicate worked seams or broken strata.

THE SOLUTION

We carried out a programme of rotary open hole boring in the areas of concern to circa 40mbgl.  Loss of flush was noted in a number of locations, indicating the likely presence of worked seams. Drillers logs were provided detailing relevant information for the client to use in their interpretative report.

THE BENEFIT

The information that we provided to the client,  informed them of the necessity to grout within the footprint of the proposed buildings.
